Les Gets in summer is a mountain-biking village first: the ski lifts reopen for a bike park the tourist office puts at 128 km of trails, and the same lifts take walkers up to the ridges facing Mont Blanc. The village at 1,172 m adds a museum, a lake and a list of family activities.

The lifts in summer

In summer 2026 the Chavannes and Nauchets chairlifts opened for pre-opening bike weekends from 22 May, then ran daily from 19 June to 13 September. The Mont Chéry gondola and the Pointe chairlift ran daily from 19 June to 30 August.

At the time of writing, a return to the top of Mont Chéry cost €15 for an adult and €11.30 for a child aged 5 to 15, and under-fives travel free. Dates and summer prices change every year, so check before you go.

Les Gets mountain biking

The bike park has 17 marked downhill trails, graded from green to an elite level:

  • Green: The Squirrels, for first-timers.
  • Blue: Coaching Track, Tomawak and La Roue Libre.
  • Red: The Vion-Net and La Déjantée.
  • Black: In the Gas and Freeride du Canyon.
  • Elite: Ellipse Line and Airlines.

A beginners' area at the top of the Chavannes Express has modules for learning the basics. Electric mountain bikes are allowed on the lifts.

In summer 2026 the Portes du Soleil bike pass, which covers Les Gets and opens the trails of the other resorts across the border, cost €39 for an adult and €29 for a child for a day at web prices, and €41 and €31 at the desk. Single rides on the Mont Chéry gondola or the Chavannes Express cost €7.50 and €5.60 on the lift company's price page; the tourist office's pages show slightly higher figures.

For a first visit, the bike park beginners guide covers the green and blue trails and the pass options, and the family mountain biking guide covers the free routes and play areas for younger children.

Les Gets has a long racing record. It hosted the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in 2004 and 2022, and the tourist office lists the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships from 26 August to 4 September 2027.

Les Gets hiking

The tourist office splits the walking between its two sides. The Chavannes side suits families; Mont Chéry is the wilder one, with ridge paths facing the Mont Blanc range. The gondola makes Mont Chéry possible for beginners: once at the top, the ridge paths are fairly flat. Its list of marked trails includes Les Crêtes de la Rosta, the Moudon chapel and the crests of Mont Chéry.

Many trails start from the lifts, and the tourist office has an interactive map with each route.

The Multi Pass

The Portes du Soleil Multi Pass covers 25 walkers' lifts, pools and mountain lakes, mini-golf, ice rinks, climbing walls, cinemas, museums, tennis, padel and squash across the 12 villages. In summer 2026 it was valid from 22 May to 13 September and cost €15 a day, or €120 for the season for an adult. Children under five go free. Some accommodation includes it in the stay; the Multi Pass page lists how.

Things to do in Les Gets

  • The Museum of Mechanical Music, in the old village, holds more than 1,000 items over 550 m², including a merry-go-round from 1871 and Decamps automata. Guided visits with demonstrations take about an hour and a half, all year.
  • Alta Lumina, an immersive evening walk.
  • Perrières Aventures.
  • The four-season sledge run, a carousel, tennis, a cinema and a bowling alley.
  • Cani-balade, guided walks with sled dogs, and white-water trips, through operators listed by the tourist office.

With children

The Lac des Écoles, reached by the Vieux-Chêne footpath, has a playground for children aged 4 to 12. At the time of writing the tourist office said the lake would stay closed until the end of the season, so check before you plan around it. The path is not suitable for pushchairs.

For children on bikes, the kids' bike hire and lessons guide covers hire shops and bike schools.
