What is the Skicircus like?
Saalbach Hinterglemm is the name of two villages in Austria's Glemm valley, in Salzburg province, and the start of a ski area that reaches well beyond them: the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. The Saalbach Hinterglemm tourist office gives it as 270 km of pistes, with 140 km of blue, 112 km of red and 18 km of black, 70 lifts and more than 60 ski huts. The Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn gives the same 270 km and 70 lifts.
Four villages make up the name. Saalbach and Hinterglemm share the Glemm valley and a tourist office. Leogang is over the ridge in its own valley, with its tourist office shared with Saalfelden. Fieberbrunn is across the border in Tyrol, in the Pillerseetal. This guide does not yet have a page for Saalbach.
All four are lift-linked, and the whole area is on one pass.
Where should you stay?
The choice is mostly about which valley you want to wake up in.

- Hinterglemm is the upper Glemm valley village, with lifts on both sides: the Zwölferkogel and Hochalm on one, the Reiterkogel on the other. The free ski bus runs to Saalbach and Lengau, and the floodlit slope and toboggan run are in the village.
- Saalbach, down the valley, has the Schattberg and Kohlmais lifts, and the Skicircus circuit starts at its Schattberg X-press.
- Leogang, at 788 m, skis from the Asitzbahn and Steinbergbahn and has two railway stations. In summer the same lifts serve Bikepark Leogang.
- Fieberbrunn, at 790 m, skis from the Streuböden lift. The Wildseeloder summit is at 2,118 m.
Each member guide has the detail, including ski schools, hire and where to book.
Hinterglemm
Lifts on both sides of the village, a floodlit slope and toboggan run, and all 270 km of the Skicircus within reach on skis.
Leogang
Two lifts from the valley into the Skicircus, a railway station of its own, and a summer bike park served by the same two lifts.
Fieberbrunn
The Skicircus by gondola from the valley station, the Wildseeloder's freeride slopes above, and a railway station in the village.
How the villages link
The links below come from the tourist offices' Skicircus circuit pages, not from the piste map.
- Saalbach and Hinterglemm. The Glemm valley lifts join the two villages on both sides of the valley, and the free ski bus runs between them. The Skicircus circuit leaves Saalbach on the Schattberg X-press, passes Hinterglemm's Reiter-Ost, Hasenauer, Spieleck, 12er Nord and Zehner lifts, and returns to Saalbach over the Westgipfel.
- Leogang. The Leogang circuit goes up the Asitzbahn, Asitzgipfelbahn and Sportbahn, and crosses towards Saalbach on the Schönleiten 6er. The way back is the Schattberg X-press, the Schönleitenbahn, the Polten 8er and the Muldenbahn.
- Fieberbrunn. The TirolS gondola, opened on the Reiterkogel on 19 December 2015, crosses from Tyrol into Salzburg and joins Fieberbrunn's slopes to the Glemm valley. The Tyrol circuit goes over on the TirolS and comes back on the TirolS, the Reckmoos lifts and the Maiskopf 6er.
The longest of these is the Skicircus circuit, which the tourist office also calls The Challenge: about 65 km, 32 lifts and 12,400 m of altitude through all four villages, which it times at 8.30 am to 4.15 pm.
The diagram shows the link from Fieberbrunn as a single crossing at the Reiterkogel, on the Hinterglemm side of the Glemm valley.
Skiing the Skicircus
The tourist offices publish signed circuits as well as The Challenge. On their figures, the Hinterglemm circuit is about 25 km and 13 lifts, the Leogang circuit about 26 km and 11 lifts, and the Tyrol circuit from Fieberbrunn about 22 km, on demanding red pistes. The Saalbach Hinterglemm tourist office's circuit page gives 30 km for the Hinterglemm circuit in its introduction, so treat these as approximate.

Each end has its own character on the official pages. Hinterglemm has a floodlit slope at the A9 Unterschwarzach lift. Leogang has the Nitro Snowpark and a SkiMovie run. Fieberbrunn's lift company describes its ski area as having freeride terrain and floodlit runs.
The Saalbach Hinterglemm tourist office publishes the Skicircus piste map and a live lift and piste status page.
Lift passes
Skicircus tickets are sold as the Ski ALPIN CARD, valid on every lift in Saalbach, Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn, and also at the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. The Saalbach Hinterglemm tourist office puts the three together at up to 408 km of pistes and 121 lifts.
For 2026/27, the Saalbach Hinterglemm tourist office splits prices into three bands: winter start from 27 November to 18 December 2026, peak season from 19 December 2026 to 12 March 2027, and bonus season from 13 March to 4 April 2027. Prices change each season; check the official ski ticket page before you buy.
Getting there
Salzburg is the airport all three tourist offices name first, with Munich and Innsbruck the other options. The Kitzbüheler Alpen PillerseeTal tourist office gives Salzburg Airport as about 1 hour 15 minutes from the Pillerseetal.
Each end of the Skicircus has its own way in by rail. For Saalbach and Hinterglemm, take the train to Zell am See and then bus line 680 up the Glemm valley. Leogang has two stations, Leogang and Leogang Steinberge. Plan the rail leg on the ÖBB journey planner. Guests staying in Salzburg province get the Guest Mobility Ticket at check-in, valid on public transport in the province; in the Pillerseetal, the guest card covers regional trains and buses.
The member guides have the transfer, bus and parking details.
When to go
The Skicircus plans ski operation for 2026/27 from 27 November 2026 to 4 April 2027, subject to change, on the Saalbach Hinterglemm tourist office and Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn figures. Ticket prices fall into the three bands under Lift passes.
