Fieberbrunn is the largest village in the Pillerseetal, at 790 m in the Kitzbühel Alps of Tyrol. As a ski resort it is the Tyrolean end of the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, which its lift company gives as 270 km of pistes and 70 lifts, reached from the valley station on the Streuböden gondola.
Since the TirolS gondola opened in December 2015, Fieberbrunn's slopes have been joined to the Glemm valley on the Salzburg side. Above the village, the 2,118 m Wildseeloder is the face the Freeride World Tour uses for its Fieberbrunn stop.
What is Fieberbrunn like?
Fieberbrunn is a market town at 790 m in the Pillerseetal, in the Kitzbühel Alps of Tyrol. The tourist office, Kitzbüheler Alpen PillerseeTal, calls it the largest municipality in the valley and gives its population as about 4,360, with about 5,000 guest beds. The same tourist office covers Hochfilzen, St. Jakob in Haus, St. Ulrich am Pillersee and Waidring, and has its office on Fieberbrunn's Dorfplatz.
The skiing starts at the valley station of the Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn, at Lindau 17. From there the Streuböden lift climbs to the mid-station and on to the Lärchfilzkogel. Above the ski area is the Wildseeloder, at 2,118 m the village's highest point on the tourist office's figures, and the mountain behind its freeride reputation.
Fieberbrunn suits you if you want the Skicircus from its Tyrolean end, with freeride terrain close to the lifts and a railway station in the village.
Skiing in Fieberbrunn
Fieberbrunn's skiing is part of the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. The Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn give it as 270 km of pistes, 70 lifts and more than 60 ski huts, the same figures as the Saalbach Hinterglemm and Saalfelden Leogang tourist offices; Kitzbüheler Alpen PillerseeTal gives the same 270 km and 70 lifts. All of them give ski operation for 2026/27 as 27 November 2026 to 4 April 2027, subject to change.

The lift company's history page explains how Fieberbrunn joined. The Reckmoos Süd eight-seater gondola reached the Hochhörndl in 2006, the ten-seater Reckmoos Nord followed in 2011, and on 19 December 2015 the TirolS ten-seater gondola opened on the Reiterkogel, crossing from Tyrol into Salzburg and joining Fieberbrunn's ski area to the Glemm valley. Since December 2024 a new ten-seater gondola has run nonstop to the top of the Lärchfilzkogel.
Fieberbrunn ski area
The Saalbach Hinterglemm tourist office's Tyrol circuit shows how the village skis into the Skicircus and back. It starts on the F1 Streuböden and F2 Lärchfilzkogel, then the E1 and E2 Reckmoos Nord and E3 Hochhörndl 4er, before the E6 TirolS takes you over to the Salzburg side. There the G3 Wetterkreuz 6er, G1 Bernkogelbahn, G2 Bernkogel 6er and D6 Reiter-Ost 6er bring you round to the E5 TirolS for the way back, and the E4 Reckmoos Süd, E1 Reckmoos Nord and F8 Maiskopf 6er return you to Fieberbrunn. The tourist office gives it as about 22 km and about 2.5 hours, on demanding red pistes, and suggests a second run on the Reckmoos Nord's natural slopes.
The longer Skicircus circuit, The Challenge, also passes through Fieberbrunn: about 65 km and 12,400 m of altitude through all four villages, which the tourist office describes as a whole-day tour.
Fieberbrunn piste map
The Saalbach Hinterglemm tourist office publishes the Skicircus piste map and a live lift and piste status page, and the Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn have their own status page. Fieberbrunn's lifts carry the F and E letters on the map.
Fieberbrunn lift pass
Skicircus tickets are the Ski ALPIN CARD, which also covers the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun; the lift company puts the three together at up to 408 km of pistes. Fieberbrunn is also on the SuperSkiCard. At the time of writing, Kitzbüheler Alpen PillerseeTal lists 2026/27 prices from €74 for an adult day and €37 for a child; current prices are on the lift company's ticket shop and the tourist office's ski pass page.
Fieberbrunn ski hire
The Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn list five ski shops in the village for sale, hire and storage on their ski shops page. The lift company says the shops at its valley station have ski depots, so you can leave your kit there after the day's skiing. S4 Snowsport gives its own address as directly at the valley station and offers hire, servicing and storage. Widmann Sport offers ski and snowboard hire, with an online rental option.
Ski schools in Fieberbrunn
The lift company lists four ski schools in Fieberbrunn on its ski schools page, among them S4 Snowsport Fieberbrunn and Skischule Widmann. S4's children's ski school is at the valley station, and it also runs adult courses, freeride and private lessons. Skischule Widmann offers children's and adult courses, private lessons, snowboarding, freeride and ski touring. The lift company adds a ski course race every Thursday and Friday in the season.
Freeride in Fieberbrunn
The lift company says Fieberbrunn's freeride scene found the exposed flanks of the 2,118 m Wildseeloder years ago, and that the Freeride World Tour made Fieberbrunn its only venue in the German-speaking world. The tourist office's event page shows how much depends on conditions: for the March 2026 stop, the Pro contest on the Wildseeloder face was cancelled because no face met the tour's safety and snow standards, while the Junior contest went ahead. Anyone leaving the pistes does so at their own risk, the lift company says, and it points to guiding, camps, the ski schools and a local avalanche report.
Where to stay in Fieberbrunn
Fieberbrunn accommodation is booked through the tourist office's accommodation search, which covers all five Pillerseetal villages. It lists family apartments, private guest houses, farmhouses and hotels with spa areas; for Fieberbrunn hotels and apartments, filter by the village. The lift company's site links to the same booking.
The tourist office describes Fieberbrunn as having direct access to the Skicircus, but the lifts start from one valley station at Lindau. Check the distance from any address to it. The Kitzbüheler Alpen guest card includes bus and train travel when you arrive from Wörgl.
Fieberbrunn for families
Kitzbüheler Alpen PillerseeTal says the Skicircus is a certified Tyrolean family ski resort. The lift company sells a Junior XPLORE Card, and S4's children's ski school is at the valley station.
Timok's Wild World sits next to the Streuböden mid-station. Its Timok's Alpine Coaster is 1,160 m long with a 115 m drop, and the tourist office says it runs in winter from Christmas to the end of the season, closing in bad weather, after snowfall or in icy conditions. Children from three ride with someone aged 15 or over; from eight they can ride alone.
Things to do in Fieberbrunn
Off the pistes, the tourist office's Fieberbrunn page counts more than 100 km of cross-country trails and more than 100 km of prepared winter walking paths, plus snowshoeing and evening tobogganing. The lift company has its own pages on tobogganing and winter walks.
In the season, Fieberbrunn has a ski show and a First Line event on the tourist office's calendar; check the events page for dates.
Eating and drinking
The Skicircus counts more than 60 ski huts on the lift company's figures. For Fieberbrunn restaurants and huts, the lift company keeps a restaurants page and a huts page, and the tourist office's food and drink page shows which places are open.
Fieberbrunn in summer
Fieberbrunn in summer runs on the same Streuböden lifts. The lift company gives summer operation for 2026 as 14 May to 1 November, at the time of writing, with the F1 Streuböden carrying mountain bikes and a bike drag lift with a practice line, the F5 Obingleitnlift. Timok's Wild World at the mid-station has the Alpine Coaster, which the tourist office says runs daily in summer, along with water play, a forest ropes course and a climbing park.
The tourist office lists hiking, mountain biking, climbing, paragliding, rafting and canyoning around the village. The lift company's summer pages list hiking around the Wildseeloder, via ferrata routes and a viewpoint at the Lärchfilzkogel top station. Multi-day WanderCard tickets cover the summer lifts of Saalbach Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn; see the summer lifts page.
How to get to Fieberbrunn
By train, the tourist office says the Pillerseetal has three stations, two of them in Fieberbrunn: Fieberbrunn and Pfaffenschwendt. Hochfilzen is the third. Plan the rail leg on the ÖBB journey planner. The tourist office also lists a free shuttle service from the train station to accommodation and back.
From Salzburg to Fieberbrunn, Salzburg Airport is the nearest of the three airports the tourist office lists, at about 1 hour 15 minutes to the Pillerseetal; it gives Innsbruck at about 1.5 hours and Munich at about 2 hours. The tourist office links a bookable airport shuttle from all three to accommodation in the valley.
Once here, the tourist office's local bus route information shows the buses from the stations to your accommodation. The lift company's directions page has the driving details.
Weather, snow and webcams
The Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn run their own webcams and weather page, and the tourist office publishes a snow report drawn from the Skicircus's live data. Check them on the morning you ski; the Reckmoos and the TirolS can differ from the village.
When to visit Fieberbrunn
Ski operation in the Skicircus for 2026/27 is planned from 27 November 2026 to 4 April 2027, on the figures of the lift company and the tourist offices. Kitzbüheler Alpen PillerseeTal lists the Skicircus opening hours as 27 November 2026 to 4 April 2027, subject to change, so check the status page before an early-season trip. Freeride depends on snow on the Wildseeloder; the 2026 Freeride World Tour stop ran from 5 to 10 March.
The summer lifts reopen in May; for 2027 the lift company gives the first section as 6 to 9 May, and both sections from 15 May to 1 November.
Fieberbrunn vs Leogang
Both villages are Skicircus entry points outside the Glemm valley, on the same Ski ALPIN CARD. Leogang is in Salzburg, with the Asitzbahn and Steinbergbahn and two railway stations. Fieberbrunn is in Tyrol, with its lifts from one valley station, two railway stations of its own, and the Tyrol circuit over the TirolS to the Reiterkogel. Leogang's tourist office pairs it with Saalfelden; Fieberbrunn's with the Pillerseetal villages.
Choose Fieberbrunn if you want the Wildseeloder's freeride terrain and the Tyrol circuit.
Choose Leogang if you want to start on the Asitz and ski towards Saalbach.
