Samoëns accommodation: where to stay, including with kids
The village centre, the hamlets or Samoëns 1600: which part of Samoëns suits you, and the hotels, residences and holiday villages to look at.

Which part of Samoëns to stay in
Samoëns spreads across a valley floor at about 700 m, with its ski area 900 m higher at Samoëns 1600. Where you stay decides whether your day starts with a walk, a bus or a gondola.
The village centre
Stay here if you want the village as much as the skiing. You have the market square, the shops, the restaurants and the Jaÿsinia on your doorstep, and free ski buses to both gondolas. Several hotels and residences are right in the centre.
Near the Grand Massif Express
The main gondola leaves from the edge of the village along the route du Grand Massif, and a cluster of residences sits along that road. Being close cuts out the bus in the morning, but note that the gondola's car park is the one car park in Samoëns that charges in winter.
Vercland
Vercland is the stonemasons' hamlet and the base of the second gondola, with free parking at its foot. Stay here if you would rather start the day on the lift than in the village.
Samoëns 1600
The Plateau des Saix puts you on the snow, next to the beginner area and the ski schools' meeting points. The Club Med up here is ski-in, ski-out.
Hotels
The tourist office lists these hotels. The star ratings are the official French classifications, not ours.

- Hôtel-Chalet de charme Neige et Roc, on the route de Taninges. A four-star hotel with 48 rooms, two heated pools, a sauna, hammam and fitness room, tennis, and a one-hectare garden. It has a children's chalet and games room, a ski-bus stop, and a restaurant holding the Maître Restaurateur title.
- MGM Hôtel Les Suites d'Alexane, on the avenue du Giffre. Four stars, 33 suites including family suites of 53 to 63 m² that sleep four, a spa, and an Italian restaurant.
- Hôtel le Gai Soleil, route de Taninges, in the old town. Three stars and 31 rooms, 15 of them studios with kitchenettes. It has a pool, a spa area and a restaurant of about 75 covers serving Savoyard dishes, and the free ski bus stops opposite.
- Lodge le Grand Cerf, at the same address as Le Gai Soleil. Nine suites, including two family suites of 42 m² and 50 m², with a free wellness area.
- Hôtel La Boule de Neige, in Vercland at the foot of the gondola. Two stars. Its listing gives 20 December 2026 to 4 April 2027.
Residences and apartments
If you would rather self-cater, the tourist office lists apartment residences from three to five stars:
- CGH Les Chalets de Laÿssia, five stars, on the place des 7 Monts in the centre.
- CGH La Reine des Prés, four stars, on the route du Grand Massif, which describes itself as family-friendly.
- Résidence Club MMV Samoëns Village, four stars, route des Drugères.
The tourist office also lists chalets, apartments, B&Bs, gîtes and letting agencies if you want a place of your own.
Club Med and holiday villages
- Club Med Grand Massif Samoëns Morillon sits at 1,600 m on the Plateau des Saix, ski-in, ski-out. It is classified four stars and opens from 20 December 2026 to 28 March 2027.
- Les Becchi, a three-star holiday village on the route du Grand Massif, 300 m from the centre and the main gondola by its own description. Full board, a pool and wellness area, and children's clubs from 3 months to 17 years.
- Cap France Le Bérouze, a four-star holiday village in the centre.

Staying with children
Book childcare with your accommodation. The village crèche, Les Loupiots, is open to families who live in the Giffre valley.
That makes the holiday villages the obvious choice with very young children: Les Becchi's clubs start at 3 months. Neige et Roc has its own children's chalet, and the Alexane and Grand Cerf both have family suites. From age three, the ski schools take over.
Ski schools in Samoëns covers lessons by age. At the time of writing, children under eight ski free for the day if you buy their pass at a ticket office.
Getting around from where you stay
Wherever you stay, the free Navettes du Giffre ski buses link the village, both gondolas and the neighbouring villages, and you don't need to book. If you drive, every car park in Samoëns is free except the Grand Massif Express one in winter. Most allow 48 hours; the place du Gros Tilleul and the place du Criou are short-stay blue-disc zones.
