Les Menuires is a purpose-built ski resort at 1,850 m in the middle of Les 3 Vallées, and its piste map covers both sides of the Belleville valley, with gondolas over the ridge to Méribel and Val Thorens. Most of its apartments are on the piste, and the local lift pass, shared with Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, costs less than the full area.

What is Les Menuires like?

Les Menuires is a purpose-built ski resort. The commune began building it in 1964, and it opened in 1967. It sits at 1,850 m in the Belleville valley, with the old village of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville below and Val Thorens above. All three are in the same commune, Les Belleville.

Les 3 Vallées describes the place by its modernist architecture: seventies-style buildings, alongside Savoyard-style chalets and upmarket residences. The tourist office makes a feature of it with the "Apéros de l'architecture", a walk through the resort's construction on Wednesdays in the school holidays, in French.

The resort spreads over five districts. La Croisette is the centre, with the tourist office and the Roc 1 gondola. Preyerand, Les Fontanettes, Grand Reberty and Les Bruyères spread out from it, linked by free buses, public lifts and footpaths. Les 3 Vallées says most of the accommodation is ski-in, ski-out.

Les Menuires suits you if you want to ski Les 3 Vallées from the door of your apartment, on a local pass that costs less than the full area, and you don't need an old village around you.

Skiing in Les Menuires

The lifts climb both sides of the valley. On the Méribel side, the Roc 1 gondola leaves La Croisette for 2,300 m, and the Bruyères 1 and 2 gondolas climb from Les Bruyères to Mont de la Chambre, where the ridge meets Méribel-Mottaret and Val Thorens. On the other side, the Pointe de la Masse gondola reaches 2,804 m in about eight minutes.

Getting out is easy on blues. For Méribel, Les 3 Vallées suggests the Bruyères gondolas and the Lac de la Chambre and Ours runs, coming back on the Tougnète lifts and the Gros Tougne. For Val Thorens, take the Mont de la Chambre chairlift and the Pluviomètre, and come home on the Cairn and Boulevard Cumin. Saint-Martin is down the Grand Lac, Pelozet and Biolley blues.

The Les Menuires ski area

Les Menuires shares its local ski area with Saint-Martin-de-Belleville: 160 km of pistes, and by the tourist office's count 81 runs and 30 lifts. The 3 Vallées pass adds the rest of the 600 km. The tourist office says every summit here can be reached on a blue run.

La Masse is the quieter side, with few lifts, long runs of about 1,000 m vertical and well-known off-piste routes. For powder without the risk, there are three Liberty Ride zones of ungroomed snow inside the ski area: La Masse, La Riondaz off the Saint-Martin Express, and Les Pylônes off the Sunny Express.

Les Menuires piste map

The tourist office publishes three maps as PDFs:

The local map reads as two sectors facing each other across the resort. La Masse, on its own, tops out at the Pointe de la Masse. Opposite is the long ridge with Méribel: the Tougnète at 2,437 m, the 3 Marches at 2,704 m and the Col de la Chambre at 2,850 m. It also marks the 3 Vallées links, the freeride zones, the fun areas and the sledge runs. For live openings, use the Les 3 Vallées app.

Les Menuires lift pass

For 2026/27 a six-day Les Menuires and Saint-Martin pass costs €350 for an adult in the main season, against €421 for the 3 Vallées; a day costs €70 or €84.20. Prices drop from 5 to 18 December 2026 and from 10 to 18 April 2027, and a Saturday day pass bought online by midnight on Friday costs €41 locally. Under-fives ski free, and the Family Flex pass puts the whole family on the child rate from five days, for groups of three or more with no more than two adults. Buy from the lift company.

Les Menuires ski hire

The tourist office lists ski hire shops in every district, under the Intersport, Skiset, Skimium, Sport 2000, Netski and Ski Republic names, along with independents such as La Godille and Ski Top.

Ski school and ski lessons in Les Menuires

The tourist office lists three ski schools and the Bureau des Guides. The ESF has offices at La Croisette, Les Bruyères and Reberty 2000, and is one school with the ESF in Saint-Martin. It runs group lessons from under-fives to adults, plus private lessons, handiski, off-piste, ski touring and cross-country. Oxyski, at Reberty 2000, runs children's, teenage and adult groups, private lessons and guided off-piste. Audacius by Prosneige starts all its lessons at La Croisette. For off-piste with a mountain guide, the Bureau des Guides is on the avenue de la Croisette.

Where to stay

Almost everything here is an apartment. At the time of writing the resort's official booking service lists more than 1,200 apartments and chalets, mostly studios and two-room flats, and marks 780 of them as ski-in, ski-out when the run is open. La Croisette and Preyerand put you in the middle of the resort; Les Bruyères and the two Reberty districts are further out, on the free bus.

The same service lists eight hotels, from the three-star Hillary to the four-star Kaya, Higalik and Ours Blanc, plus the new four-star °Fahrenheit Seven, which opens at Preyerand on 11 December 2026. There are also three holiday clubs.

Les Menuires for families

Les Menuires has held the Famille Plus label since 2006. The ESF runs a nursery for babies from 3 to 35 months and the Club Piou-Piou, at La Croisette and Les Bruyères, for children of three to five: snow games, sledging, snowshoes and cross-country rather than ski lessons, every day except Saturday. For 2026/27, six half-days cost €243, and you need to book at least ten days ahead. From Tuesday to Friday afternoons, the Ski Patrol Experience shows 7 to 14-year-olds the ski patrol's work, avalanche dogs included.

On the snow, La Montagnette above La Croisette is a green run for learners, with coloured arches, totems and interactive features. The Boukty Snow Camp on the La Croisette snow front is free for 2 to 6-year-olds. Two of the holiday clubs take babies from four months, and the tourist office publishes a list of local babysitters.

Things to do in Les Menuires

The lift company runs two sledge runs. Roc'n Bob, from the Roc 1 gondola, is 4 km long with 450 m of descent and 22 bends, open Tuesday to Friday afternoons. La Mine, at Les Bruyères, is a 1,000 m toboggan on rails, open every afternoon. On Wednesday mornings the First Track takes skiers down freshly groomed runs before the lifts open, followed by breakfast at the top, for €35.

Indoors, Le Break at La Croisette has a pool with saunas, a hammam and jacuzzis, La Bulle at Les Bruyères has a children's water area, and Les Flocons cinema is at La Croisette. The Maison de l'abeille noire at the Plan de l'Eau des Bruyères tells the story of the native black bee, and is free for under-18s. Cross-country skiers have 28 km of trails from the Plan de l'Eau.

Eating and drinking

Les Menuires restaurants

The tourist office lists 68 places to eat for winter, in the resort, on the slopes and down the valley in Saint-Marcel. At Les Bruyères, La Marmite holds the Maître Restaurateur title and, besides its Savoyard dining room, seats diners in two old Les Menuires gondola cabins and an igloo. Of the hotels, the Kaya has a gastronomic restaurant.

On the mountain

Chez Pépé Nicolas sits on the Chasse piste at about 2,000 m, between Les Menuires and Val Thorens. It is a family alpine farm with its own cheese dairy, a permaculture garden and a shop, open for 2026/27 from 28 November to 25 April, and on Thursday evenings it runs tastings in its cheese cellar. Le 2800 is at the top of the Pointe de la Masse gondola, Le Chalet de la Masse beside the Vallons run, and Roc Seven at the top of the Roc 1 gondola.

Les Menuires in summer

In 2026 the lifts ran from 4 July to 28 August. The Belleville valley's three resorts share more than 70 walking routes and 40 bike routes, including a labelled bike park, and the Pass Ascensionnel gives unlimited use of the 3 Vallées lifts on foot. Free shuttles with bike trailers link the three resorts.

How to get to Les Menuires

Les Menuires is 27 km above Moûtiers, the railway station for Les 3 Vallées. By car, Les 3 Vallées puts the resort about 1 hr 20 min from Chambéry and 2½ hours from Lyon; from Geneva, allow about two hours to Moûtiers, then the climb up the valley. The S63 bus runs from Moûtiers station all year, and in winter Altibus's Alpskibus line runs from Geneva Airport to Moûtiers, connecting for the resort.

Once you are here, the outdoor car parks are free and you can leave the car. Free buses link the districts and run on to Saint-Martin and Val Thorens.

Weather, snow and webcams

The Pointe de la Masse is almost 1,000 m above the resort, so check the summits as well as the snow front. The tourist office's live page shows open lifts and runs, snow depth, the avalanche risk and the forecast.
