Geneva to Les Menuires: transfers, buses, trains & driving

Geneva to Les Menuires is a drive of about two hours to Moûtiers, then 27 km up the Belleville valley. You can do it by hire car, on the Alpskibus airport coach with a change at Moûtiers, or by taxi or private transfer. Once you arrive, you won't need a car: the resort runs free buses between its districts and down the valley.

Geneva to Les Menuires by car

Les 3 Vallées gives the route from Geneva as the A41 motorway towards Annecy and Chambéry, the A430 to Albertville, then the RN90 dual carriageway to Moûtiers, about two hours in normal traffic. From Moûtiers, follow the signs for the Belleville valley; Les Menuires is 27 km further on. The tourist office runs a road information page for the stretch between Moûtiers and the resort.

Les 3 Vallées suggests travelling on a Sunday rather than a Saturday to avoid the changeover traffic.

Winter tyres and chains

From 1 November to 31 March, every vehicle in Savoie must have winter tyres or carry snow chains or snow socks. Only tyres with the 3PMSF mark count as winter tyres. On top of that, a commune order of February 2026 allows chains to be made compulsory on the roads up to the resorts in bad weather, and snow socks are not accepted then. Hire cars are not always equipped, so check before you leave the airport.

Parking

Every district has free outdoor car parks, and you can leave the car there for the week. Some covered car parks charge, and Les 3 Vallées lets you book parking in Les Menuires in advance.

Geneva Airport to Les Menuires by bus

Altibus's Alpskibus line runs from Geneva Airport every day in winter to the Tarentaise. For Les Menuires you usually change at Moûtiers onto a connecting service. At the time of writing fares started at €47 for an adult and €32.90 for a child of 3 to 12, and under-threes travel free. Check in at the Alpskibus desk next to the Breitling Café, on the left of the arrivals hall.

At the time of writing the 2026/27 timetable had not been published, and Altibus says winter sales open in mid-October 2026, so check the Alpskibus page before you book flights around it. From Lyon Airport, Altibus runs the LYS'Express in winter.

By train to Moûtiers

The nearest station is Moûtiers-Salins-Brides-les-Bains, 27 km from the resort. From the station, the S63 bus runs all year to Les Menuires and on to Val Thorens, more often in winter and summer; Les 3 Vallées reckons the buses from Moûtiers take under an hour to reach its resorts. Les 3 Vallées puts the fare at about €12 a journey, and Altibus takes 10% off if you buy online more than 48 hours ahead; a bag and a pair of skis are included.

Les Menuires transfer and taxi

Taxis wait at Moûtiers station, where a central booking office runs 34 cars for one to eight passengers. Les 3 Vallées puts the fare to Les Menuires at about €85 for one to four people. For a transfer from the airport, the tourist office publishes a list of local taxis; ask each one for an airport fare and compare before you book.

Getting around Les Menuires

The free inter-district buses link La Croisette with Reberty 1850 and 2000, Les Airelles, Les Fontanettes and Les Bruyères, and Preyerand and Brelin are linked by cable car and lifts. The inter-resort buses run down the valley to Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and up to Val Thorens, stopping at the villages between.

There are 23 electric-car charging points at La Croisette and Les Bruyères.
