Nearest airport to Cervinia: transfers, trains and driving

The nearest airport to Cervinia is Turin. Travel times from Turin, Milan and Geneva, transfers, the train to Châtillon-Saint-Vincent and the bus to Breuil-Cervinia.

Nearest airport to Cervinia

Turin Caselle is the nearest airport to Cervinia. Of the airports the resort lists, it is the closest, at 118 km and roughly 1 hour 42 minutes from Breuil-Cervinia. Milan Malpensa is 171 km away, about 2 hours 16 minutes, and Geneva is 260 km, about 3 hours 37 minutes.

The resort's getting-here information gives these distances and times for the airports it names. The page does not say whether the times are for driving, so allow for the full road journey from the airport.

AirportDistanceApproximate time

Milan Linate207 km2 hr 29 min

Zurich380 km4 hr 30 min

Turin has the shortest distance on the resort's list. Malpensa and Linate are both in Milan. Zurich, at 380 km, is the furthest of the six.

Which airport suits you depends mainly on your flight.

Aosta and the valley

The resort gives the distance from Aosta to Breuil-Cervinia as 45 km, about one hour by car. The regional tourist board, Lovevda, gives 52 km for the same journey. The two official figures differ, so this guide gives the drive time only and not a single distance.

Lovevda says Aosta has direct trains from Turin Porta Nuova and Turin Porta Susa. It does not give a public transport time from Aosta to Breuil-Cervinia, and the Lovevda page for Breuil-Cervinia says to reach Châtillon by train or by bus, then take the bus to Breuil-Cervinia. The route the official pages describe is therefore by train to Châtillon-Saint-Vincent, then bus up the valley. Aosta is useful as a reference point for the drive, not as a stop on the journey.

Turin to Cervinia transfer

The resort says transfers from the airports are available by bus, taxi or rental car. It does not name an operator for any of them.

The resort's taxi listing names nine private taxi operators with contact details. It does not say which of them run airport transfers or have any arrangement with the resort, so this guide does not recommend one. Ask any operator for a fixed price and confirm the pick-up point in writing.

For a self-drive transfer, Turin airport's website has a car hire section, which is the rental option the resort's "rental car" mention refers to. Its home page also has separate items for taxi and train. Its bus item is a charter service for mountain trips. Neither the bus item nor the home page mentions the Aosta Valley or Cervinia, so do not assume a scheduled coach runs from the airport.

How to get from Turin to Cervinia by car

From Turin, take the A5 Turin to Aosta motorway. Leave at the Châtillon/Saint-Vincent exit, then follow the regional road for 28 km to Breuil-Cervinia. The resort gives this route.

The resort's page gives no route from Milan Malpensa or Geneva, so this guide does not describe one.

Train to Châtillon-Saint-Vincent and bus to Breuil-Cervinia

The closest railway station to Cervinia is Châtillon-Saint-Vincent. Lovevda says Aosta has direct trains from Turin Porta Nuova and Turin Porta Susa, with more than 20 trips a day and a journey of under 120 minutes. From Milan the journey takes about 180 minutes and needs a change at Chivasso.

The central valley stations are Pont-Saint-Martin, Verrès and Châtillon-Saint-Vincent. Bus services link them to the side valleys, and departures are generally timed to meet the trains.

Lovevda says the Ivrea to Aosta railway line is replaced by buses until 13 December 2026. A train from Turin to Châtillon may therefore involve a bus for part of the way. Check the current timetables on the RFI site, which Lovevda links to, before you set out.

The resort says buses run to Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche from Châtillon-Saint-Vincent, and from Turin and Milan. A through bus is therefore an option if you do not want to change at Châtillon. The resort's page gives no timetable for these services.

For the valley bus, Lovevda directs passengers to the Arriva timetables under the Bassa valle (lower valley) section. Arriva's list includes line 503, Châtillon to Breuil-Cervinia, with a PDF timetable. Arriva's page does not state the validity dates of its timetables, so confirm the days and times on the Arriva site before you travel.

Before you travel

Two things change often enough to check on the day you travel.

The Ivrea to Aosta line is replaced by buses until 13 December 2026, so check the Turin to Aosta trains first. Lovevda's train page links to RFI timetables for the Turin to Aosta route, covering trains and buses, and to a PDF of RFI timetables valid from 23 February 2026. Use the RFI site for the train leg.

The Arriva timetable for the valley is the source for the final leg from Châtillon-Saint-Vincent to Breuil-Cervinia. Check the line 503 times on Arriva's site before you travel, since the page does not state how long its timetables are valid.

The resort's taxi listing is a list of contacts, not a booking service. If you use a taxi for the whole journey, agree the price and pick-up point before you leave the airport.
