Where to stay in Ortisei

Ortisei hotels and apartments range from spa hotels in the centre to apartments by the cable cars. The tourist office describes four-star hotels for an all-inclusive stay, and bed and breakfasts and holiday apartments for self-catering. The village has two lift sides, and which one you stay near matters more than the distance to the centre.

The Seceda side

The Seceda cable car's valley station is by the Val d'Anna promenade, a few minutes' walk from the centre. This is the side for La Longia, the 10 km run from the Seceda back to Ortisei, and for the lifts over Col Raiser to Selva and the rest of Val Gardena. The La Curta escalator links this side with the centre.

The Alpe di Siusi side

The Alpe di Siusi cable car leaves from the centre for the plateau, where the runs are gentler and the tourist office points beginners. If you are coming home on the Val Gardena Ronda circuit, you ski down the Pilat run into this side of the village.

The centre

The pedestrian zone, between the chapel of St. Ulrich and the Antonius church, has the shops and cafés, and the ski school is on Streda Rezia. Stay here if you want to walk to dinner; both cable cars are within reach.

Ortisei hotels

Ortisei apartments

The tourist office lists many apartment houses in Ortisei. Among them:

• Apartments Oswald, at Streda Setil 7, in the village centre at the Alpe di Siusi cable car. Apartments for two to seven people, with underground parking and free entry to the Mar Dolomit pools.
• Apartments Furmescer Alpine Home, at Streda Roma 42, at the Seceda cable car and on the ski slope, about five minutes' walk from the centre. An apartment with three double bedrooms and a garage with ski storage.
• Apartments Cësa Gredine, at Streda Roma 34, about 30 m from the Seceda valley station, next to the Val d'Anna promenade. Two apartments, of 42 m² and 80 m².
• Residence Altea, at Streda Petlin 27/B, built in 2020, a few minutes' walk from the centre. Apartments with a sauna, steam bath and whirlpool.

Staying with children

The Ski and Snowboard School Ortisei takes children from three and runs the Floc Club for younger ones, from its base on Streda Rezia in the centre. For beginners, the Alpe di Siusi side puts you nearest the gentle runs. Of the hotels above, ADLER Dolomiti has a kids' club, and an apartment by either cable car gives you space and a short walk with skis.

Getting around from where you stay

You won't need a car once you arrive. Many hosts give you the Val Gardena Guest Pass, which covers public transport across South Tyrol during your stay. If you drive, Ortisei is 20 km from the Chiusa/Klausen exit of the A22, about 20 minutes.
