Le Monêtier-les-Bains is the village that gives its name to one of the four sectors of Serre Chevalier. The resort's own site describes it as a Roman village with hot springs, and says it was the third largest town in the Hautes-Alpes in the 18th century.
The trail map splits the village's sector into two parts, Monêtier Bachas and Monêtier Sommet. The other sectors of the domain are Briançon, Chantemerle and Villeneuve.
What is Le Monêtier-les-Bains like?
Le Monêtier-les-Bains is one of the four sectors of the Serre Chevalier ski area, alongside Briançon, Chantemerle and Villeneuve. The resort's own site describes it as a Roman village with hot springs, and says it was the third largest town in the Hautes-Alpes in the 18th century. The town hall is at 5 Place Novalese, and the commune's site is monetier.com.
It is the village to choose if you want a place with its own history and a sector of the domain with its own trails and webcams.
Skiing in Le Monêtier-les-Bains
The Serre Chevalier domain has 250 km of trails across 410 hectares of marked ski area, 82 runs and 58 ski lifts, according to the resort's ski area page. The page says 80% of the runs are above 1,800 m.

The Monêtier sector
The trail map divides the village's sector into two parts, Monêtier Bachas and Monêtier Sommet. The Bachas sector has its own webcam at 2,176 m. The resort's French site names a snow front at Pré Chabert.
The resort's pages do not say which lift links the Monêtier sector to the rest of the domain, so this guide does not name one. Check the trail map before you plan a route across the sectors.
