Obergurgl hotels, apartments & chalets
Obergurgl or Hochgurgl, hotel or apartment: how accommodation in the Gurgl valley is laid out, and how to book it.

Obergurgl accommodation is mostly hotels and apartments close to the lifts. The tourist office counts more than 100 places to stay across Obergurgl and Hochgurgl, and says that over 90% of guest beds are less than 250 m from the slopes. In Obergurgl, it says, you are on the snow within four minutes of any accommodation.
Obergurgl or Hochgurgl?
The two places share the ski area and the tourist office, but they are different places to stay.
Obergurgl, at 1,930 m, is the village. Restaurants, sports shops and supermarkets are within walking distance of most hotels, and the centre has a doctor's surgery, a bakery and the Gurgl Carat congress centre. A ski bus runs every 10 minutes in the season for the longer trips, such as from the centre out to Pill and Angern.
Hochgurgl, at 2,150 m, is a small settlement of hotels in the middle of the ski area, about 200 m above Obergurgl. The tourist office describes it as ski-in, ski-out. It has the highest lift-served point in the area, 3,030 m, above it, and the Top Express gondola links it to Obergurgl in nine minutes.
Stay in Obergurgl if you want the shops and restaurants on foot. Stay in Hochgurgl if you want to step out of the hotel onto the piste.
Obergurgl hotels
The tourist office describes a range from modern design hotels to traditional ones, many of them on the slopes and many with spa areas: saunas, steam rooms and massage. It lists a set of hotels right on the ski slope in both Obergurgl and Hochgurgl.

One example is Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl, which is on the slopes in Obergurgl at 1,930 m and has rooms and suites. Its website shows packages for winter 2026/27, from December 2026 to March 2027.
For families, the tourist office says some hotels run a kids' club, offer family rooms and suites, and include cots, changing mats and buggies for hire.
Obergurgl apartments
The tourist office's slope-side list covers apartments as well as hotels. They suit groups and families who want to cook. The tourist office places supermarkets within walking distance in Obergurgl; check what is near your door before booking in Hochgurgl.
If your apartment is not on a slope, the ski bus (free with the Guest Card) and the rental shops' shuttle service cover the gap. Ski depots with boot drying at the cable car valley stations are free with rental equipment.
Booking Obergurgl accommodation
The tourist office runs an official booking platform for Obergurgl and Hochgurgl, with no booking fees. You can filter by type, room features such as a balcony or bath, and hotel facilities, or send a non-binding enquiry.

Whatever you book, your accommodation issues an Ötztal Guest Card for your stay. In winter it gives free use of the public buses and ski buses in the valley.
Getting to your accommodation
Transfers go straight to the door. The Ötztal Shuttle and the valley's taxi firms take pre-booked guests from Innsbruck airport or the Ötztal-Bahnhof railway station to their hotel in Obergurgl or Hochgurgl. Scheduled buses also run up the valley every half hour, timed to meet trains and flights; from the bus stop, the ski bus covers the longer distances within Obergurgl.
Once you have arrived, you will not need a car to ski: the slopes are close to most beds, and the Top Express links Obergurgl and Hochgurgl on skis. See our Obergurgl guide for the ski area, lift passes and getting there.
